Tonight, in Ford Field, the new-look Lions will play their first preseason game of the season. Hard to believe football season is here already. Yesterday, the Lions had a light practice in order to stay fresh for today's game. Here's some notes about that session.
- The Lions held a late-morning practice in order to get some last-minute preparations in before today's game against the Broncos.
- Time for the daily injury update. It hasn't yet been decided if Shaun Cody will play in tonight's game with Denver as that is a game-time decision. Linebacker Boss Bailey however, has already been ruled out of the game.
>> On if DT Shaun Cody will play in the preseason opener
"We'll meet with (trainer) Al (Bellamy) tonight to see what his feelings are about everybody before we get going for the final tune-up and check them all out. But my thing right now is that if it's close, I wouldn't plan on it.">> On if LB Boss Bailey is still out
"He's out. I'm not going to play him." - If you're looking to see the starters on the field for an extended amount of time, then don't get your hopes up. Rod Marinelli has said that the starters will be taken out sometime through the first quarter. Mind you, that's a tentative estimation as it all depends on how the first few drives go.
>> On if he's got a substitution plan of how he's playing his starters
"Yeah. It's going to be somewhere in the first quarter. It all depends on how the drive goes. We just don't want to overdo it with them and get them into some good rhythm and good tempo. It's just part of the process." - The Lions announced that some tickets have become available for the game tonight after Denver returned some of its allotment back to Detroit. I'm sure you'll be able to get tickets right up until game time, so if you're planning on attending, but don't yet have tickets, I wouldn't worry too much.
