The last few days has been all about the first preseason game of the season. Well, it's back to training camp for Lions players and coaches to prepare for the next game. Friday, the Lions take on the Browns in what has become an annual rivalry in the preseason, so Rod Marinelli will have to get his team ready.
Here's some notes from yesterday's training camp.
- A full-squad practice was held out the outdoor fields yesterday after Friday's win over Denver.
- Undrafted rookie Matt Bernstein, a fullback out of Wisconsin, has been waived by the Lions. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent just days after the draft. As the roster has to be trimmed down in coming weeks, more players will be waived or released very soon.
- Casey FitzSimmons left Friday's preseason game after having a bad landing on an overthrown pass in the endzone. Jon Kitna lofted a ball too far in the back of the endzone, and as FitzSimmons landed, he came down directly on his wrist. It turns out he fractured it and will be further evaluated by a wrist/hand specialist.
- Along with Casey FitzSimmons, Cory Redding, Shaun Rogers, Barry Stokes, Rex Tucker and Damien Woody all missed yesterday's practice because of ongoing injuries.
