Ernie Sims Practices As a Starter

After a great performance by the first-round draft pick in this past week's game against Cleveland, Ernie Sims has been moved into the starting weakside linebacker spot. Sims had been the backup to Alex Lewis for the first two games of the preseason, but now will be getting the start this Friday against Oakland.

This change comes following an output of 6 tackles against the Browns, including one that was a sack. The rookie will look to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball and prove himself all over again.

"I just want to prove myself all over again. Every game, I want to prove myself and show Detroit and the Detroit Lions why they picked me," Sims said. "I want to go out there and show my explosion and my speed and everything and make a whole lot of plays. When I got out there, I try to have fun."

It'll be interesting to see how Sims plays as the starter when he goes up against Aaron Brooks and the rest of the Oakland offense this Friday.
