I've gone over the situation before, and now we stand just one day away from the final round of roster cuts before the regular season. The biggest question on everyone's mind right now is if Charles Rogers will make the team. It would appear that Mike Williams will be making the team as he's only had one season in the pros. Rogers on the other hand, is looking like he's on his way out.
Rod Marinelli had said earlier this week that Rogers would see a good dose of playing time as it would be his final chance to impress the coaching staff. It appears that something drastically changed between that statement and the game last night as Rogers hardly saw the field at all. He only had 1 catch for 3 yards when the final whistle blew.
It appeared originally that Marinelli may have just kept him off the field to prevent injury, possibly because he had already proved enough. But, now it seems that Rogers was as good as cut before the game even started.
If Charles Rogers is let go at the deadline to trim down the roster tomorrow, then it will be a pretty sad day to end a sad career. The once 2nd pick of the draft has been down a rocky road, and when the first game of the season kicks off in a week or so, and Rogers isn't on the sideline, then I wish him the best wherever he goes.
Stay tuned for the final roster prediction here at Pride of Detroit. It'll be posted sometime tonight.
