The Madden Curse Strikes Again

I've never truly believed in the so-called "Madden Curse," where the cover athlete for the game either has a horrid season or an injury.  But, now I'm beginning to think it's more than just a bunch of well-timed coincidences.

MVP running back Shaun Alexander was chosen to be on the cover of Madden NFL 07 back in April, and since then people have wondered if the curse will affect him.  Most didn't think so as Alexander has always been a solid back.  Those people thought wrong.

Shaun Alexander apparently has a fracture in his left foot that came from a bruise in the season opener at Detroit.  Over time, the bruise became worse and turned into what coach Mike Holmgren described as a non-displaced fracture or a small crack.

Alexander is reportedly going to miss the next two weeks.  Maurice Morris will fill in at running back this weekend against Chicago, and then the following week Seattle has a bye.

This just further proves that the Madden Curse may actually be true.  I'd watch out if I was on the cover of Madden NFL 08.
