No Lions Selected to Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl rosters were released yesterday and not a single Lion is listed on the NFC team.  No players were voted to be a starter and none were selected as reserves.

Even though it may seem pretty surprising for a team that was once 6-2 to have zero players in the Pro Bowl, I can't say that I disagree with that fact.  The Lions are on the verge of losing their 7th straight game, and quite frankly, no one on this team really deserves to be in the Pro Bowl.

Although none are on the team right now, there's a chance some could get to go to Hawaii for the game if players decide to withdraw themselves from the game due to an injury or some other reason.  That is where the alternates list comes into play, and for the Lions, there are 5 players included in that category.

Center Dominic Raiola, quarterback Jon Kitna, nose tackle Shaun Rogers, wide receiver Roy Williams and linebacker Ernie Sims are the alternates. They can be elevated to the Pro Bowl team if a player at their position withdraws from the game for any reason.

I would say out of those players listed, only Ernie Sims truly deserves a shot at going.  The fact that Jon Kitna is on there after how bad he has been recently is bad enough, but what if Brett Favre, Tony Romo, or Matt Hasselbeck can't go to the game for some reason?  That means that Kitna could get to go to the Pro Bowl, which would be one of the biggest jokes ever.
