Lions Cut Ross Verba

The first of what is expected to be many roster changes over the next few weeks happened today as the Lions cut offensive lineman Ross Verba.  Verba was signed in the offseason with the expectation that he would bring expereince to the o-line.  Instead, he had to deal with injuries all season long and only played in seven games before heading to the injured reserve.

Aside from Ross Verba, the Lions are likely going to cut a few other players very soon.  James Hall, Marcus Taylor, and Dre' Bly were all given permission to seek a trade, and as of right now, it appears Bly will be the only one with some value.  Hall has a roster bonus due on Friday just as Verba did, and unless Millen can put together a deal quickly, he'll just end up getting cut.  Right now, the only team out there interested in Hall is St. Louis.  I don't expect a trade to happen since they could just sign him once free agency begins on Friday as he will be cut.

Stay tuned as the next few weeks will provide many drastic changes regarding the Lions roster.
