Mike Williams Done in Detroit?

Josh McCown wasn't the only player to miss yesterday's voluntary mini-camp. Wide receiver Mike Williams also decided to not show up and has basically guaranteed his inevitable fate of being cut. Williams and McCown were the only two players that didn't attend the practice and neither are predicted to be on the roster come next season.

The reason behind McCown not showing up is due to the fact that he wants a trade and Detroit wants to trade him, but for Mike Williams, there is no good reason. BMW has always been on the outs with the current coaching staff and we all have thought he would be cut on many separate occasions. Some how though, Williams has done enough to stick around. That probably isn't the case anymore.

Rod Marinelli wanted everyone at practice this week and the one player who should be there the most decides not to come. This isn't the only deciding factor against Williams, but it'll probably be the nail in the coffin when it comes to his career in Detroit.

I would expect the Lions to try and trade Mike Williams, but if that can't be done, they will just give him the Charles Rogers treatment and cut him. If Williams is cut, he will join Joey Harrington, who signed with Atlanta earlier this week to be Mike Vick's backup, and Charles Rogers, who has disappeared from the league entirely (though some say he worked out with the Chiefs and ran approximately a 4.8 40-yard dash recently), as former Lions first round picks to depart Detroit after just a few seasons.

I really hoped that BMW could get things in order as he has shown some potential, but I just don't think that will ever happen in Detroit.
