Lions Extend Invitation to All Fans to Attend Training Camp

The Lions had closed training camp to the public ever since moving into the training and practice facility in Allen Park many years ago, but this year, season ticketholders had the chance to attend practice via an invitation.  After testing that out for the first week or so, the Lions have now decided to open up practice to all fans for three days.

The Detroit Lions will open three days of training camp practice sessions to the general public Friday, August 3, Monday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 7 at the team's Headquarters and Training Facility in Allen Park.

Public practices at the training facility in Allen Park will be limited to the first 500 fans per session.

"The experience with our season ticket holders out here at training camp has been extremely successful from many aspects," said Lions Executive Vice President and COO Tom Lewand. "Our players and Coach Marinelli have been energized by the atmosphere created during the past week and the enthusiasm of the fans. We wanted to extend this opportunity to the general public this year to continue evaluating even greater opportunities in the future."

To this news, I say thank you to the Lions.  Fans should have a chance to see the team up close and personal, and this is a way to do that.  Hopefully this goes well and we will see something like this happen more often in the future.  I would definitely recommend going as it will be a great opportunity to see the Lions practice from a great vantage point and then afterwards, you should be able to snag a few autographs from players and coaches.
