Decision Time for Jones

Running back Kevin Jones will find out today if he is going to remain on the PUP list or if he will finally be activated.  The decision will be basically be determined by the visit Jones makes today to the doctor who performed surgery on him.  After this evaluation, Detroit will probably get a better idea of how healthy Jones is and then can make the tough decision that could have him sitting out the first 6 weeks of the season.

When a decision is made by the Lions, as I already said, it will be whether to keep Jones on the PUP list or to remove him from it.  If Jones stays on the PUP list, he will be out for the first 6 weeks of the 2007 season, meaning Tatum Bell will continue to be the starter.  Staying on the PUP list would mean that Jones still isn't healthy enough to get back on the field and won't be for another month or two.

On the other side of things, Jones being removed from the PUP list would put him on the active roster.  That would mean the Lions are confident enough in him coming back in the very near future so it would not waste a roster spot.

We should find out if we'll get to see Jones play in the coming weeks today.  I sure hope he is taken off the PUP list simply because it means he's healthy enough to be in a position to play sometime soon.  This injury has been hampering him all offseason and despite the optimism lately, could continue to hamper him into the regular season.
