Training Camp Notes: 8/3, 8/4, 8/5

  • On Friday, the Lions had a full-squad workout in the morning and a special teams practice in the afternoon.

  • Calvin Johnson was signed on Friday and then went to practice immediately after.  This was a nice treat for the first open practice the Lions held.  All the fans gave Johnson a big ovation as he walked onto the field.

  • The public practice held at Ford Field drew a pretty good crowd.  In total, 10,486 fans were in attendance on Saturday to get a free chance to watch the Lions.

  • Calvin Johnson drew a lot of cheers every single time he touched the ball.  Fans were more than excited to see the second overall pick from the '07 draft on the field and catching passes.

  • WR Devale Ellis, RB Kevin Jones, and DT Shaun Rogers all still remain on the PUP list and didn't practice at all this weekend.

  • After a successful practice at Ford Field, Coach Rod Marinelli gave the Lions Sunday off. That meant no practice before heading back to the Allen Park training facility to prepare for Thursday's preseason opener.
