2-0, First Place Makes for a Great Feeling

After two weeks of play this season, the Lions have got the job done.  Although nearly blowing a lead against the Raiders and being only inches away from a loss to Minnesota aren't the greatest ways to get a victory, I think I speak for all Lions fans when I say we'll take it.  2-0 is what you hope your team is after two games, and that is exactly what Detroit's record is right now.  To make things even better, the Lions are tied for first in the NFC North with the Packers, giving even more hope for what is to come the rest of the year.

Something that every Lions fan out there should consider is that 2-0 right now doesn't mean squat at the end of the season.  Is it the perfect way to start the season? Yes.  But you have to consider that there are still 14 more games to be played, and with the Lions, anything is possible.   I don't want to sound like a negative person, but I'm just trying to think realistically.  Injuries or anything else could happen to put this team in a bad position, so let's not start to get our expectations up there too high right now.

Basically, this is a long season and a lot can happen from now to Week 17.  Will Detroit still be in first place come late December?  Who knows?  But right now they are, and that is something we all should joy.  I would say just don't take this feeling for granted because we don't know how bad it could get by the time 2007 is over.  Again, I'm not trying to be negative, but unfortunately, this is the mindset most Lions fans have.  The constant losing will do that to a person, so hopefully we'll see something that changes that throughout this season.
