Who Is the Raiders' Starting QB?

When Detroit opens the season at Oakland on Sunday, who will line up against them as the starting quarterback?  It will be either Daunte Culpepper or the one-time Lion Josh McCown.

So, who exactly will be starting on Sunday?  ESPN reports that it will be Culpepper and Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that it will be McCown.

Despite being evasive on the subject publicly, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is expected to announce Josh McCown his starting quarterback for Oakland's season opener against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports.

Silver and Black Pride is confused.

If McCown does end up as the starter, Detroit better not get the Joey Harrington treatment.  As you probably remember, Harrington returned to Ford Field on Thanksgiving as the Dolphins starting QB and lit up the Lions.

The newest Detroit Lion who actually just came from Oakland, safety Eric Frampton, thinks Culpepper will be the starter.

Who does Frampton think the Raiders will start at quarterback -- Lions-killer Daunte Culpepper or former Lion Josh McCown?

"That, I don't know," Frampton said. "That one, we'll have to wait and see."

Come on. Best guess.

"Probably Daunte," Frampton said. "Daunte, yeah. Culpepper will get the start."

The interesting thing from this situation is that either ESPN or Adam Schefter got the scoop wrong. Knowing from past occurrences like this, I'd be willing to say that Schefter is right in reporting that McCown will start.  ESPN has lost a lot of credibility as this wouldn't be the first time they reported something like this incorrectly.
