Former Lions Draft Pick Killed in Motorcycle Accident

Johnathan Goddard, a defensive end out of Marshall that was picked by the Lions in the sixth-round of the 2005 NFL Draft, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday morning.

Goddard's motorcycle went off the shoulder of a road at a high rate of speed and overturned about 7:40 p.m. Saturday in Clay County, Fla., Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leeper said Sunday. Goddard, a resident of Starke, was pronounced dead about 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Goddard's family and friends.
