Drew Stanton Hurts Thumb

Lions quarterback Drew Stanton suffered a scare at practice today as he banged his right thumb on a helmet.  The injury isn't believed to be serious, but man, Stanton just can't seem to catch a break.  Here are the details of the injury:

Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton hit his right thumb on a helmet during Thursday's practice and had his thumb wrapped in ice after the workout. Stanton said X-rays had already been taken and it wasn't believed to be broken. Stanton was to undergo more tests and the team is expected to update his condition in a few hours.

"I don't think it's anything major. I'm just trying to keep the swelling down,'' Stanton said. When asked if he's expecting to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, he said, "I'm planning on it.''

After missing all of last season with an injury, Stanton has come out this summer on a mission to get better.  So far that mission has been quite successful as he has looked good in the first two preseason games.  Hopefully this injury won't set him back and won't prevent him from playing against Cleveland.
