Running back Rudi Johnson, who was released by the Bengals on Saturday, is visiting the Lions tonight. According to Tom Kowalski Johnson will work out and take a physical tomorrow. The news that he is going to take a physical means the Lions' interest in Johnson must be pretty serious as a physical usually indicates a contract has been offered. I'm sure we'll find out whether or not that is the case by tomorrow afternoon.
I'm not necessarily opposed to signing Johnson as he is undoubtedly an upgrade over the recently claimed Marcus Thomas. Hell, he's probably an upgrade over Tatum Bell as well. He would add depth to the running back position, but I just hope the Lions don't over-pay him should he be signed.
