2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft: Pick No. 32

Rd. # Player Pos. College

DT
UCLA

With the 32nd pick of the 2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select UCLA defensive tackle Brian Price.

Here is davis0169's reasoning for the pick:

The Saints are still basking in the glory of last year's Super Bowl win. It's time to get back to work. It's a no brainer that the Saints have all the offense that any team could possibly want, including one of the best QBs in the league who is torching every team he plays. When I was looking at stats for the Saints it became very clear that with the defense ranked 25th overall, they are going to need some help on that side of the ball.

As Lions fans we know that without a good front 4, the run and pass defense are going to suffer greatly. Since they just signed Brown at DE they are going to need someone to help them on the inside. I was torn between 2 DTs that are still available at this point. Mount Cody is one, and while he sure could help on the run stopping, I didn't feel he was as good at getting after the QB as Price. Price is young (21) and blessed with a lot of upside. He has good size with excellent footwork, ethic and intangibles. He has the rare ability to elevate the play of those around him, is quick off the blocks with decent speed (5.03) and agility. He plays with good leverage and is always moving. Price has shown very good spin moves on the inside and brings a great energy level to his game. Also, he has shown some strength once he is in the gap. If he would have had a better showing at the combine, he would have been a mid-first round DT in this draft. Price is definitely a 4-3 DT coming in at 300 lbs. but should fit in nicely for the Saints on the way to building this defense up to compliment the powerful offense and help these Saints get back to the Super Bowl.
