2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft: Pick No. 40

Rd. # Player Pos. College
2 40 Jahvid Best
RB
California
General Manager: j16941

With the 40th pick of the 2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the San Diego Chargers select California running back Jahvid Best.

Here is j16941's reasoning for the pick:

Alright, the Chargers got HUGE value with Dan Williams in the 1st round. And I made that pick with the hope that after trading up with Seattle in the 2nd round from #60 to #40 (the Whitehurst trade) that SD would be able to address their need for a feature RB in the 2nd round. Mathews would have been my ideal pick, but DrewsLions saw the same potential in him that I did and selected him to our own Detroit Lions (great pick, and I loved It; I just couldn't say anything before because I didn't want to tip my hand).

As far as Best goes, he would be a great fit in SD. They need a RB, and he was the "Best" back at the combine. He's a fast, home run threat that can spilt time with Sproles in his 1st year and take over after. I know people are gonna knock his injured past (especially with the new concussion rules in the NFL), but screw it, SD just chews up RBs and ships them to NJ later anyways. Let "Best" be the next best victim.
