2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft: Pick No. 44

Rd. # Player Pos. College
2 44 Damian Williams
WR
USC
General Manager: Quez81

With the 44th pick of the 2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select USC wide receiver Damian Williams.

Here is Quez81's reasoning for the pick:

Damian Williams is a great route runner and has decent quickness. He does a good job of finding soft spots in zones and does a good job on jump balls. He also has experience in a pro-style offense and is elusive in open space.
The knock on Williams is he does not have the speed to stretch the field vertically, running only a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash. Also, he's not very physical but can become a better blocker, which goes along with his need to bulk up.
Hopefully Williams can fill the #2 WR spot, if not become a good slot WR. He should be able to make an impact as a rookie. The possible absence of Wes Welker is the reason for this pick.
