With the 61st pick of the 2010 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New York Jets select Florida State cornerback Patrick Robinson.
Here is Evilsmurf's reasoning for the pick:
At 5-11¼ and 190 lbs. Patrick ran a 4.46 40-yard dash. He has all of the speed and tools to be an elite corner in the league. A physical corner that gets a good jam at the line and tackles well, Patrick has the speed, feet and hips to stick to any receiver in the NFL. On top of good leaping ability and hands, his ball skills are good too. He is equally good in both man and zone coverage and it is hard to find any weakness in his game. Coming from a great pedigree only adds to his stock.
The only knocks on this guy come in the form of inconsistency and questions about underachieving. Sometimes he can be too aggressive, but those are small question marks for all his upside and potential. I was quite surprised to see a first round corner talent sitting here at the bottom of the second round and can only assume that his academic test cheating scandal has dropped him in our lap. With a strong coaching staff and strong locker room we believe Patrick will thrive as a Jet and give us the undisputed top secondary in the NFL. Though not a position of need, this cornerback has as much talent as any other on the board and we are happy to take advantage of that.
