Matt Millen's 2010 NFL Draft

What if Matt Millen were still President of the Detroit Lions? How would he continue to make our lives miserable?

Matt Millen's 2010 NFL Draft.

Round 1:

With the 2nd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Dez Bryant, WR Oklahoma State University.

-- Really does this come as a surprise to anyone?!? Bryant like Rogers and Williams has red flags concerning his personal conduct coming into the draft, but that didn't stop the genius that is Matt Millen in '03 or '05 so 3rd troubled WR is the charm?

Round 2:

With the 34th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB Indiana (PA)

-- I think it has become clear over the years Matt Millen's draft strategy to draft players with interesting names regardless of talent (Kalimba Edwards, Boss Bailey , Artose Pinner, Ikaika Alama-Francis just to name a few). So it was no surprise Millen reached and took Owusu-Ansah early in the 2nd round.

Round 3:

With the 66th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Mike Williams, WR Syracuse

-- Matt Millen has a flashback to 2005 and can't believe that Mike Williams (USC) has dropped all the way to the 3rd round. Good Job Matt!!!

Round 4:

With the 128th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select LeGarrette Blount, RB Oregon

-- In the Detroit war room one of the coaches questions this pick with concerns about Blount's past history. Matt Millen throws his plate of chow mien at the coach and grunts "Big! Fast! Run like bull!! grrrrrr"

Round 7:

With the 213th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Michael Hoomanawanui, TE Illinois.

-- Day Three: Round 7 and Matt Millen finally turns to page 2 of his NFL Draft prospect handbook only to be outraged at this staff for not bringing the TE from Illinois to his attention because of his awesome last name.

With the 214th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select A..J. Wallace, DB Penn State

-- Millen has misplaced the magic 8 Ball he used to make all his draft decisions so he decided to draft the first player he could find on the board from his alma mater.

With the 220th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Brett Swenson, K Michigan State University

-- Millen drafts a kicker to inherit the job after Hanson decides to retire not a terribly bad move, but is it really necessary to take a kicker to make it seem like you are trying to force one of the most loyal Lions players out the door?

Let's take a moment and thank the football gods for blessing us with competent management and never ever having to see Matt Millen represent our beloved team ever again. GO LIONS.
