Monday Notes: Randy Phillips Expected To Sign With Lions This Week

  • John Niyo reports that safety Randy Phillips is expected to sign with the Lions before this week's minicamp. Phillips was supposed to sign with the Lions right after the draft, but he had to wait until some problems with his shoulder cleared up.
  • The situation with Ryan Stamper is very similar. He was supposed to sign with the Lions after the draft, but that never happened due to injury issues. The difference now is that Stamper will only try out with the Lions before training camp next month, so it's not guaranteed that he will in fact sign.
  • Is C.C. Brown the favorite to start alongside Louis Delmas at safety? Tom Kowalski thinks so.
  • Nate Burleson has no problem with being Robin while Calvin Johnson plays Batman in the Lions offense.
  • Tight ends are going to be a big part of the Lions' offense.
  • Former Lions cornerback and one-time Mr. Irrelevant Ramzee Robinson has been claimed by the Washington Redskins.
  • It's probably only a matter of time until the preseason is shortened and the regular season is expanded.
  • Roger Goodell and John Madden are going to go on a training camp tour this summer.
