Lions Claim Cliff Louis, Waive Contrevious Parks

The Lions added a new offensive lineman today, claiming tackle Cliff Louis off waivers. To make room on the roster for him, Detroit waived wide receiver Contrevious Parks.

Louis entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Morgan State in 2007. He signed with the Browns originally and has played for a number of teams since, including the Giants on a few separate occasions. In between his stints with the Giants, he played for the Jaguars, the UFL's Florida franchise, the Cardinals and the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. Louis was just waived by the Giants on Aug. 20, only two weeks or so after signing with them again.

Parks was signed earlier this year as an undrafted free agent from Stephen F. Austin. With the wide receiver position so crowded, it's not too surprising that he was let go today, as I had him pegged as one of the players that would be released in the first round of roster cuts.
