Lions Work Out Ex-Bear Nathan Vasher

Cornerback Nathan Vasher, who once played for the Chicago Bears, reportedly worked out for the Lions on Thursday. He was let go by the Chargers during the final round of roster cuts, and with the Lions' secondary by no means a set unit going forward, Detroit decided to get a look at him.

The purpose of the workout could simply be the Lions doing their homework in case a future move is necessary, or a move could be made next week if things don't go well against Chicago. Vasher signing next week would mean that his contract isn't guaranteed, so the Lions would obviously wait until then to do anything. Even so, it's interesting that Vasher is getting a look, as it shows that the Lions are preparing a backup plan if the secondary struggles.

Vasher spent the previous six seasons with the Bears.
