It's official: Shaun Hill will start at quarterback for the Lions on Sunday against Philadelphia.
While it wasn't expected that Matthew Stafford would play, it's good that Jim Schwartz cleared up any remaining speculation and simply named Hill the starter. There's no need to even think about Stafford being rushed back again, and now the team can simply move forward with Hill as the starter until Stafford is healthy again.
Schwartz declined to comment on Stafford's injury any further than he already has, so how long he will be out remains to be seen. The timetable for his recovery time has ranged from two to eight weeks depending on who you ask, but the fact that Stafford's right arm wasn't in a sling is very encouraging that he will be out for the minimum rather than the maximum amount of time.
