Lions Notes: Jahvid Best Wins Award For Offensive Rookie Of The Month

  • Jahvid Best was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.
  • If the Lions lose on Sunday, Jim Schwartz will make history for having the worst 20-game start in franchise history.
  • Former Lions great Don Doll died on Wednesday at the age of 84.
  • The Lions had four wide receivers in for a workout on Tuesday. Two of them weren't named, but Troy Williamson and Dexter Jackson were noted as attending.
  • Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams said that the Lions "tried to cheap-shot" Minnesota this past Sunday, alleging that Detroit players "use hands to the face and were pulling us down." He added: "I hate when guys act tough when they ain't tough."
  • When asked about the fight in the Vikings game, Shaun Hill said that "we are not going to be anybody's punk out there." Jared Allen, who already proclaimed how much he hates Detroit, basically called Shaun Hill and quarterbacks in general his "little brother" because of how he can't actually go after them in a fight.
  • Louis Delmas was wired for sound for the Eagles game.
  • Speaking of Delmas, he hasn't heard from the NFL yet about his supposed obscene gesture in the Vikings game and had this to say about it:
"Yeah, I saw it," Delmas said when asked about the picture. "That wasn't me, and if it was, that was my pointer finger."
You can clearly see that the jersey says "Delmas" and the number is 26, so it was definitely him. As for which finger it was, I guess that depends on how you look at the picture. To me it looks like a middle finger, but I guess it will only matter if the NFL decides to fine him.
