Had I known this past Sunday's Lions-Bears game would go so poorly for Detroit, I would have handed out three game balls after the blowout of the Broncos, taking care of that game, the bye week and this week. I only handed out two, meaning it's necessary to give out a game ball for the Lions' blowout loss at the hands of the Bears.
Although nobody was really worthy of a game ball for the Lions considering they lost 37-13, I ultimately decided to give one out to defensive end Lawrence Jackson. He recorded four tackles and one sack during the Bears game, continuing his solid 2011 season. Through nine games, he has 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks. A year ago, he recorded 34 tackles and six sacks in only 11 games, so he is picking up where he left off in 2010.
Week in and week out you really can't go wrong with spotlighting a Lions defensive lineman. At both defensive end and defensive tackle the Lions have tremendous depth, and it says a lot when a backup like Jackson is putting up such great numbers.
