The first of what is expected to be several fines stemming from the Lions-Bears game has been issued. According to ESPN, Lions defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch has been slapped with a $7,500 fine for a late hit. This fine is not related to the fight, which is expected to be the source of most of the fines from this game.
Most of the news about fines is expected to come out today. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was at the eye of the storm fight in the fourth quarter, jokingly said this yesterday when he was asked about if he had been fined:
"They usually drop the fines off in our lockers," Stafford said. "If I get one, I get one. I don't know. (Ndamukong) Suh told me they come on Thursday or Friday."
Speaking of Suh, he could be facing yet another fine since Jay Cutler's helmet came off on one of his tackles. If it were any other player you probably wouldn't even think about that play as grounds for a fine, but the same thing could be said for Suh's tackle on Cutler last year that drew a fine.
One other piece of fine-related news for now: Bears receiver Earl Bennett was fined $10,000 for wearing orange shoes for the second game in a row.
