The 2011 Daytona 500 kicked off the NASCAR Sprint Cup season earlier today, and the winner was shockingly 20-year-old Trevor Bayne. This was only Bayne's second career start in the Sprint Cup Series, but he somehow jumped to the front of the pack at the end of the race to win NASCAR's Super Bowl.
Coming in second in the Daytona 500 and pushing Bayne to the finish line was Carl Edwards. One of Edwards' sponsors is Subway, which also sponsors Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. When Suh was asked for his pick to win the Daytona 500 last week, he fittingly went with Edwards due to their Subway connection.
"I'm going with my Subway restaurants teammate Carl Edwards."
Suh is a great football player and is business savvy as well. Plus, sponsor aside, his pick was a pretty good one. Perhaps he took some notes when he attended a NASCAR race with Nicklas Lidstrom at Michigan International Speedway last year.
