NFL Combine Results: Patrick Peterson, Prince Amukamara, Other Corners Show Off Speed

New, comments

Today was the final day of the 2011 NFL Combine, and they saved the fastest group of players for last: defensive backs. The DBs showed some serious speed during the 40-yard dash earlier today, as 15 players ran it in 4.50 seconds or less. One player ran it in 4.28 seconds, and three others had a time of 4.40 or less.

Here is a look at some of the results from the 40-yard dash for the defensive backs:

  1. DeMarcus Van Dyke (4.28)
  2. Patrick Peterson (4.34)
  3. Chimdi Chekwa (4.40)
  4. Chris Culliver (4.40)
  5. Prince Amukamara (4.43)
  6. Joe Lefeged (4.43)
  7. Ras-I Dowling (4.46)
  8. Curtis Marsh (4.46)
  9. Byron Maxwell (4.46)
  10. Jimmy Smith (4.46)
  11. Shareece Wright (4.46)
  12. Buster Skrine (4.48)
  13. Chykie Brown (4.50)
  14. Davon House (4.50)
  15. Justin Rogers (4.50)

As you can see, there are a lot of fast cornerbacks in this year's draft. The Lions won't even have a shot at Patrick Peterson, and it's likely that Prince Amukamara won't be there when they go on the clock, either. The best remaining corner after those two may be Jimmy Smith, but that depends on who you ask. I will have more on the cornerbacks and specifically Smith later today.
