Earlier this week, NFL spokesman Great Aiello announced the start times for the three days of the 2011 NFL Draft. The first round begins on Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The second and third rounds will be held on Friday, and the picking will get started at 6 p.m. On Saturday, rounds four through seven will take place, with the first pick of the day being made shortly after noon.
ESPN's Adam Schefter also released some info on the draft earlier this week. His information deals with rules about trading.
Some rules for upcoming CBA-less draft: Teams can trade 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 draft choices.
Once a player has been selected in the 2011 draft, his rights cannot be traded for another '11 drafted player or an '11 draft pick.
One more piece of information deals with the NFLPA's plans for the draft. They are going to hold a "Rookie Debut" during each day of the draft, but it will not conflict with the actual draft. There are no plans for a protest or a boycott, as this will simply be an alternative arena for the rookies to be introduced. For more information, go to NFLLockout.com.
