Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has spent the last few days in the Carolinas to attend the pro days of three schools: South Carolina, North Carolina and Clemson.
Schwartz was in Columbia, South Carolina, for the Gamecocks' pro day on Wednesday. 28 of the NFL's teams had representatives in attendance, and Schwartz was there for the Lions.
On Thursday, Schwartz headed to Chapel Hill for North Carolina's pro day. The Tar Heels have quite a few talented players in the 2011 NFL Draft, and many could fill needs the Lions have.
Today, Schwartz was at Clemson, mainly to watch defensive end Da'Quan Bowers. As I will discuss in a later post, Bowers was my pick in the 2011 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft. I was quite surprised he fell all the way to the 13th pick, but based on some accounts from his pro day, I guess it wouldn't be too shocking if it happened in real life as well. More on that later.
One other piece of pro day news worth passing along is that the Lions' offensive line coach, George Yarno, attended USC's pro day on Wednesday to get a look at offensive tackle Tyron Smith.
