Detroit Lions Host Tyron Smith For Visit

USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith was in town today to visit with the Detroit Lions. He set up a visit at the beginning of April as part of a hectic month that has taken him all over the country to a number of teams. Today he got to meet with the team that owns the 13th overall pick and could take him if he's still available.

The Lions' official website caught up with Smith and got his take on the type of player he is.

"I’m a good pass protector. Basically I like to get my hands inside a defender before he gets me so that I have a good reach on him. I’m more of, ‘kill him before he kills me,’ guy. I set the tone off the first play of the game to let him know who he’s dealing with."

The 2011 NFL Draft visit tracker for the Lions has been updated with this news.
