With the 53rd pick of Pride of Detroit's 2011 NFL Mock Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Penn State offensive guard/center Stefen Wisniewski. Lionsfan8 is serving as the Colts' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
After addressing the line on the defensive side of the ball, the Colts switch focus to the problems on the offensive line, mainly lack of skill. Stefen Wisniewski (6'3", 306 lbs.) is a smart and technically sound player who played both center and guard. He is a hard worker who understands the commitment necessary to be a professional football player, coming from a family where both his father and uncle played in the NFL. He has no character concerns.
Wisniewski played guard his first two years and then transitioned to center his junior year. He is very versatile, which will help the Colts since they need help at all areas. Jeff Saturday, who has anchored the Colts' O-line for many years, will be turning 36 this June. Wisniewski will need to buff up and use his arms more wisely to become an elite player, but because he is very technical and fundamentally sound and has an intelligent, rough attitude he should make a quick impact on the Colts O-line.
