With the ninth pick of Pride of Detroit's 2011 NFL Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara.
Here is Jerry Mallory's reasoning for the pick:
Lions fans will gasp as the Dallas Cowboys select CB Prince Amukamara. Cornerback is a big need for the Cowboys, who were 26th against the pass last year. Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick are solid players but better suited playing safety or nickel corner. Prince could start right away. With him and a rejuvenated Terence Newman, one of last year's weaknesses can become a strength.
Also, we are going to make a strong push for Nnamdi Asomugha, but there are no guarantees. Even if we get him, Newman can net us a second-rounder. If we get Nnamdi obviously the CBA is fixed, thus we could trade Newman.
We gave a hard look at OT Tyron Smith, but he'd probably come in at RT initially and we feel we can find another player at that spot by other means.
