The Detroit Lions had three second-round picks in 2007, and depending on what Drew Stanton is able to do in the future, it's possible that they could end up missing on all three. Stanton is the only one left on the Lions, as Gerald Alexander was traded after the 2008 season and Ikaika Alama-Francis was released prior to the 2009 season. Alexander is not on my list of the top 10 Detroit Lions busts since 2001 because he was a low second-round selection and actually started 16 games in 2007. Francis, however, checks in at No. 8 on the list.
The Lions used the 58th overall pick on Francis (three picks before they selected Alexander). That isn't exactly a high second-round pick, but you at least expect more production than this: two starts, 35 tackles, one sack and appearances in 19 games. Those are Francis' numbers for the two seasons he spent in Detroit with the Lions. After being let go, he didn't record any stats with the Dolphins in 2009 and had 11 tackles in 11 games last year. To say the least, he hasn't panned out for being a second-round pick, not with the Lions or Dolphins.
Previously: No. 10 - Daniel Bullocks, No. 9 - Drew Stanton
