Former Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders did a couple interviews earlier this week to promote the Get In The Game app that came out a few days ago. In one of the interviews Sanders was asked if he was better than former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith. As you might have guessed, Sanders was very noble in answering the question.
"I would never say that. He was too great of a player, and I loved competing against him."
Sanders later said on Twitter that he appreciates the debate people have been having about who is better. He also said that Smith is "the ultimate warrior," and Sanders added this:
He is #1 on all the time list and trust me-the guy deserves it. You can say he played on great teams... but he made those teams great
I'm obviously biased, but if I could go back in time and assemble a team, Sanders would be my running back without a doubt. Smith was certainly a great player, but if Sanders had played as long as Smith (15 seasons), there's no doubt who would be No. 1 all-time right now.
