NFL.com's Michael Fabiano interviewed Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford this week. The focus of the interview was Stafford's rehab from offseason shoulder surgery and his fantasy football value. Fabiano actually asked Stafford to make his case to fantasy football owners for why he should be their No. 1 quarterback. Here was Stafford's answer:
Stafford: That’s my number one question asked, should they pick me up in fantasy. … I’m going to play all 16 [games], I’ve got Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Brandon Pettigrew. I’m throwing the ball to Jahvid Best and Leshoure out of the backfield. I feel there is going to be a lot of points put up.
If Stafford is right and he does end up playing all 16 games, he will certainly be a good choice for a No. 1 quarterback with all of the weapons around him. As he said, he's got a solid group of receivers with Johnson and Burleson. His tight ends are solid as well. And even his running backs do a good job of making plays after catching passes. If everybody can stay healthy, some big numbers should be put up.
