In addition to adding Purdue WR Keith Smith to the list of undrafted free agents the Detroit Lions are planning to sign, you can also add Kent State linebacker Cobrani Mixon and Wisconsin-Stevens Point wide receiver Jared Jenkins.
Mixon actually transferred to Kent State back in 2007 after spending the 2006 season at the University of Michigan. Becoming eligible to play in 2008, Mixon had 73 total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. A year later he had 108 tackles and three sacks. Finally, in 2010, he had 82 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.
Jenkins not only was a wide receiver at UW-Stevens Point, a Division III school, but he also punted. He finished his career second on the school's all-time list with 273 catches and 34 touchdowns. He also was named an All-American for his punting abilities, averaging 43.9 yards per punt in 2010. In addition, he started for three years on UW-Stevens Point's basketball team.
With Mixon and Jenkins headed to Detroit, we now know of nine UDFAs that are planning to sign with the Lions.
