- Tom Kowalski reported earlier today that the Lions and Cliff Avril "could be getting close to a long-term extension." It would certainly be nice to get that taken care of quickly.
- Punter Ryan Donahue, who is joining the Lions as an undrafted free agent, chose Detroit over an offer from the Houston Texans. Apparently the Texans' starting punting job isn't locked down by anybody, but Donahue chose Detroit anyway and has been told he will compete for the starting job. Interesting.
- Jahvid Best had some issues getting into the parking lot at the Lions' facility because he forgot the code to enter. That just shows you how long it's been since players were allowed to go to their team facilities.
- A number of Lions players were at the facility this morning, including Matthew Stafford, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Best, Mikel Leshoure, Stephen Peterman, Dominic Raiola, Ashlee Palmer, Jeff Backus and Dave Rayner.

- Stafford said if he can stay healthy, he doesn't think making any predictions for next season will be necessary since his play will do the talking for him.
- Vanden Bosch thinks the rules that limit padded practices and eliminating two-a-days will actually give the Lions an advantage since so many players on the team are already very driven on their own.
- The Lions' official site has video from Vanden Bosch and Stafford meeting with the media today.
- Both Vanden Bosch and Stafford are willing to help the Lions recruit free agents to Detroit..
- Peterman and Raiola headed to Joe Louis Arena after checking in at the Lions' facility in order to attend Kris Draper's retirement press conference.
- The Lions are putting together their open practice schedule.
