Detroit Lions To Make A Run At Nick Barnett?

Last night on Twitter, linebacker Nick Barnett jokingly told Nate Burleson to get Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew's phone number for him. Barnett is set to be released by the Packers, so he will soon be searching for a new home. Considering the Lions still have a need at linebacker, Detroit might not be a bad fit for him.

As it turns out, Barnett may not need to seek out Mayhew to talk about making a deal happen. Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel thinks the Lions may pursue Barnett as soon as he becomes a free agent.

Tom Kowalski tweeted earlier that it wouldn't be surprising if the Lions make a huge push for Barnett once he is released. Kowalski also tweeted that he's been told Barnett could play outside or middle linebacker for the Lions, so this is certainly something worth keeping an eye on going forward.
