Four down; one to go.
Shortly after signing running back Mikel Leshoure to a deal, the Detroit Lions signed fellow second-round draft pick Titus Young. Young's deal, like Leshoure's, is for four years.
Seventh-round pick Johnny Culbreath became the first Lions draft pick to sign when he got his deal worked out last night. Earlier in the day Doug Hogue signed, and now both of the Lions' two second-round selections are under contract. This means Nick Fairley is the only rookie that hasn't signed yet, but I would expect something to be done soon.
Fairley said yesterday that it's important he doesn't miss any time, and with the first practice scheduled for tomorrow morning, I anticipate him signing sometime tonight. One of the nicest things about the new CBA is the lack of a lot of contract issues with rookies, so I see no reason why Fairley's deal should hit any serious obstacles.
When practice starts tomorrow morning, I expect all five draft picks to be signed and ready to go.
