Detroit Lions Announce Rashied Davis, Justin Durant Signings

6 p.m. has come and gone, meaning teams can officially start signing free agents -- both their own and ones from other teams.

Shortly after 6, the Detroit Lions' Twitter account announced the team had signed wide receiver Rashied Davis, linebacker Justin Durant and cornerback Eric Wright. Shortly after, however, the team tweeted that Wright had not yet signed his contract.

My first reaction was that something might be up, especially since the retraction came shortly after the Nnamdi Asomugha news broke. The conspiracy theorist in me jokingly thought the Lions could be putting the deal on hold to try and trade for Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel since he is now expendable for the Eagles. Then Dave Birkett tweeted this: "Eric Wright is coming to town tonight, btw." Wright will be signed, it seems, just not until he gets into town.

I could still see Martin Mayhew trying to make something happen to get Samuel considering how talented he is. There's no guarantee he will be on the market, but I'd be surprised if the Eagles held on to him with both Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on the roster.
