After finding out that free agent linebacker Nick Barnett's visit with the Detroit Lions wasn't scheduled until Sunday, we also learned that he was visiting a mystery team on Saturday. There was no word on which team brought him in for the visit, at least not until Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson spilled the beans on Twitter (via Buffalo Rumblings).
Met @NickBarnett at dinner tonight. Great guy and phenomenal player. Good luck in your decision bro
After Barnett visits the Lions on Sunday, it's possible a decision could be made about where he will sign. If the Bills are the only team the Lions are competing against for Barnett's services, Detroit seems like a pretty good bet to land him. The Lions are not only expected to be more competitive than Buffalo next season, but playing in Detroit would allow Barnett to go up against his former team (the Packers) twice a season. What's more, he would get to play behind one of the most talented defensive lines in football.
Obviously there are other variables that could play into Barnett's decision (namely money), but like I said earlier on Saturday, I like the Lions' chances.
