Although things have gotten quiet on the roster moves front, the Detroit Lions did make one change to their roster today. They released undrafted free agent wide receiver Jared Jenkins and signed wide receiver Maurice Stovall.
Stovall was selected out of Notre Dame in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. His first career touchdown reception actually came against the Lions in 2007. He became a free agent after last season and landed a job with the Lions today.
Stovall has never been an out of this world receiver. He's never had more than one touchdown reception in a season, and his career-high numbers in 2009 were only 24 receptions for 366 yards. Even so, Stovall is a good special teams player, so that is likely how he would play his way onto the 53-man roster.
Jenkins, a wide receiver/punter from Wisconsin-Stevens Point, was originally signed last week.
