- The Detroit Lions have two practices scheduled for the rest of the week (both are open to the public if the weather cooperates). They are going to practice at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday and 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Thursday will be a day off as they travel to Cleveland, and on Friday the Lions will take on the Browns at 7:30 p.m.
- Jim Schwartz said that the Lions aren't rushing Jeff Backus back because they don't want to risk a setback that keeps him out longer. Schwartz also said that he expects Backus (and Nick Fairley to return relatively soon.
- Matthew Stafford isn't too concerned about the struggles the Lions had on the ground against Cincinnati. He said it was their first game for starters, and since Cincinnati decided to play a lot of "hard boxes" they were able to throw the ball with a lot of success. Stafford believes the offense will make teams pay through the air for stacking the box and make them pay on the ground if they worry too much about the passing game.
- It looks like former Lions quarterback Daunte Culpepper is going to sign with the 49ers.
