Lions Notes: Update On Jahvid Best

  • Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best got hurt on his first carry of the Browns game, not the play when he fumbled. Jim Schwartz said there is no update on Best because the coaches simply decided to take him out of the game since "he was a little woozy." Best said he's "not concerned at all" and that he left the game because he "wasn't feeling right." Best also said that if this had been the regular season, he would have kept playing.
  • Calvin Johnson did not play on Friday against the Browns because he (and Schwartz) didn't want a minor injury to turn into something major in a preseason game.
  • Sunday's Lions practice at 2:30 p.m. is open to the public, but Monday's practice at 9:15 a.m. is only open to those who have been invited.
  • According to the NFL's Greg Aiello, teams have to be down to 80 players by 4 p.m. on Aug. 30.
  • The Lions were one of the many teams that had scouts at Terrelle Pryor's pro day today. Pryor reportedly ran an unofficial time of 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
