Because the Detroit Lions don't play until Saturday this week, we won't get an idea of what the list of players out for the game will look like for a few more days. We do, however, already know about two players who will likely be on it: running back Jahvid Best and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch.
Although Best was apparently cleared to practice and is expected to return on Wednesday, Jim Schwartz doesn't expect him to play against the New England Patriots.
"He had some stuff he was doing, getting his blood pressure up on the exercise bike," Schwartz said. "Hopefully, we'll have him on the practice field (Wednesday), but with an eye toward not playing in the game."
Vanden Bosch also missed practice, and it turns out he's not just resting. He was out again because of a sore shoulder, and it's also not looking like he will play.
"We'll wait and see," Schwartz said. "It's probably going to be a no."
Vanden Bosch went to the doctor to get his shoulder looked at today. The purpose of the visit wasn't to get a second opinion, per Schwartz, so hopefully this will be a short-term injury.
