It turns out defensive tackle Jimmy Saddler-McQueen isn't the only new face on the Detroit Lions practice squad. He was signed on Tuesday, and the Lions released fellow defensive tackle Lorenzo Washington to make room for him.
Tuesday's change still left the Lions with one open spot on the practice squad, and they filled it by signing cornerback Lionel Smith. Smith's agent reported the news on Twitter:
Congrats to ESM Lionel Smith@lsmith3 on signing on with the Detroit Lions PS!

Smith joined the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M. He was released by the Cowboys during the final round of roster cuts, and now he is a member of the Lions practice squad. He takes the spot that was vacated when safety Ricardo Silva was signed to the 53-man roster last week.
