The Detroit Lions have had no shortage of injuries this season, especially on defense. As of late, they've been without safeties Louis Delmas and Amari Spievey, among other starters at times, and it looks as though the Lions will once again be without their starting safeties this week against the Green Bay Packers.
The good news for the Lions is that the Packers are also a pretty banged up team. Linebacker Clay Matthews, for example, has already been ruled out for Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. Wide receiver Greg Jennings and defensive back Charles Woodson have also been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Here's a look at the Wednesday injury report for the Lions:
WR Titus Young (Knee) - Limited in practice
WR Calvin Johnson (Knee) - Didn't practice
DE Cliff Avril (Back/concussion) - Didn't practice
DT Corey Williams (Knee) - Didn't practice
LB Ashlee Palmer (Chest) - Limited in practice
CB Chris Houston (Ankle) - Didn't practice
S Erik Coleman (Toe) - Didn't practice
S Louis Delmas (Knee) - Didn't practice
S Amari Spievey (Concussion) - Didn't practice
K Jason Hanson (Left foot) - Limited in practice
It's worth noting that although Avril was listed on the injury report, he indicated that doctors cleared him for contact. That suggests that he could play on Sunday despite suffering a concussion last week against the Minnesota Vikings.
Here's the rundown on the Packers' Wednesday injury report:
FB John Kuhn (Hamstring) - Limited in practice
WR Jordy Nelson (Hamstring/foot) - Limited in practice
WR Greg Jennings (Groin/abdomen) - Out
WR Donald Driver (Thumb) - Limited in practice
TE Andrew Quarless (Knee) - Limited in practice
TE Ryan Taylor (Chest) - Limited in practice
TE D.J. Williams (Hamstring) - Fully practiced
OG T.J. Lang (Elbow/wrist) - Fully practiced
DE Mike Neal (Ankle) - Didn't practice
DE Jerel Worthy (Concussion) - Fully practiced
LB Clay Matthews (Hamstring) - Out
LB Terrell Manning (Shoulder) - Limited in practice
CB Sam Shields (Ankle) - Limited in practice
S Charles Woodson (Collarbone) - Out
The Packers are expecting Nelson to play on Sunday based on what head coach Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday, so although they will still be without Jennings, one of Aaron Rodgers' favorite targets will likely be back.
